The Funeral by Keith Wilson

Every time I get a pain in my side
I tell my paper bag it's not cancer,
and there's some lady crying on TV
that she wants her country back.

Every skinhead too, every Cherokee
buried beneath a Port-A-Potty, every
man lynched purple and red wants
their country back, they cry for it too.

What has this woman lost, yet?
The ability to live within her eyelids?
What a burden it must be to live
as a minority, to never seem to scream loudly

enough.
